We wanted to pick a name that defined the area of work for the community within the Santiam Canyon in Western Oregon. Because of the centrality of water in the area, we eventually settled on the name of “North Fork Catholic Worker” because it sounded pleasant to the ear and also because of the particular beauty of the North Fork region of the Santiam River.
